hurricane strikes again!

ok, so it was brian's birthday yesterday, but this post isn't about him. i was nursing the baby, ready to go out to eat with brian, my sister karis had just arrived to baby sit the kids. i was talking with karis, so i didn't notice that zach was quietly absent... the pictures tell the rest of the story!!

i always noticed that he would watch intently while i put on my makeup... i guess i forgot to keep it out of his reach!!!

precious audrey

one of audrey's friends, molly murrah (7 years old), gave her a garbage bag full of dress up clothes a few days ago. since then, she doesn't get up and get dressed, as she usually does. she gets up and gets dressed up. she wears these dresses all day every day! and she changes at least 5 times a day! i took a few pictures of her, i'll have to put some more up of the other dresses.




























when she put this dress on, she asked if she could have one of the flowers of the bouquet that brian gave me earlier in the week. so i gave her one, and she laid on the table like this. she said this is what sleeping beauty does until her prince comes to kiss her... zach usually ends up playing the part of prince. she calls to him, saying, "prince, you have to come kiss me!" i just laughed and laughed.

and i wanted to share a few other funny things that she has said lately:

**she was playing jasmine and aladdin one day with brian. she was running around the room calling, aladdin, help! help me! i guess zach wanted in on the fun, so he ran over to her and was trying to interact with her, and she ran away and said, "aboo, leave jasmine alone!"

**i was nursing the baby and watching the news and she was on the couch. she said,"ok mom, here's the deal. after you watch your show, i can watch my show. deal, or no deal?" i just cracked up. i haven't watched that in several months! and she pointed her finger at me like what do you say?
**at night when we pray before we eat, she has been offering to pray. so we let her. she always thanks God for mom and dad and kenzie, but she would never include zach. so we had to talk to her about how zach is an important part of the family and we love him too. even though she didn't want to, she has started to include him in the prayer. then the other night she was praying. she always starts out with "dear heavenly father," then she said all her thank yous, then proceeded to say,"and praise the Lord you helped makenzie stop crying and choking, in Jesus name, amen." it was pretty funny.
**lastly, the other day she wanted to hold the baby, so i handed her over and got her all situated. next thing i knew, audrey had sat the baby up on her lap and started to burp her just like a pro! she also helps with the diaper changes. she'll undo the outfit and open the diaper up for me.

its hard to believe my baby boy is two years old!

on his birthday, we went to mcdonalds to celebrate. he and audrey had fun playing on the playground. then we went home and opened presents.









when we first put him in this chair at mcdonalds, he started crying. i think he thought that we were putting him in time out!






















we had a little party for him on friday night. brians dad came, and brians brother and his wife (phillip and cathy) came with 5 of their 7 children. the granniss family also came. we had pizza and cake and a pinata. his cake was so cute. you can see the bat and ball! when he was trying to blow out his candles it wasn't working, so his uncle phillip told him to hit them- zach took the bat and started hitting the candles. they got pounded down into the cake but i had to blow them out before the cake caught on fire!

my mom and i have decided that zach's new nickname is hurricane, because he loves to tear things apart. he'll knock chairs over as he passes through, dump out boxes of toys, or pull things off of the counter. today i was fixing audrey's hair when he managed to knock over a 5 gallon bucket. unfortunately, that bucket had 2 1-gallon buckets of paint inside. a beautiful pink for audrey's room. i think it is called old fashioned pink. anyways, home depot didn't do their job very well of putting the lid on i guess, because the top gallon opened and made a nice pink splatter on our off white carpet. thankfully the whole lid didn't come off because it would have gone everywhere, but the mess was big enough. so there is zach with pink paint all over his legs. i briefly thought, this is one of those polaroid moments, but then decided that since i didn't know exactly where the camera was, i better not leave, because i didn't want pink footprints all over the house. so i just picked him up and took him to the sink to get cleaned up. sorry, but i'm sure your imagination will come up with something fun!!

going crazy

how can these two precious little things cause so much ruckus?



i hope that i am not the only one who feels like i am going to lose my mind. here's a scenario of the last 10 minutes: i was sitting in my chair trying to nurse the baby. zach comes in and dumps a cup of water onto the carpet. he does this often, so he knew it was wrong, so i tried to get up and spank him while still keeping the baby attached(which of course doesn't happen). he cries, walks into the kitchen and pulls the pan of food off of the oven. thankfully it was cool. i go in to clean up that mess, and he gets a drink of water, and promptly spits it all out. a verbal warning was given, even though that happens often, too. i then wipe up the remains of the teddy graham box that was dumped out earlier in the afternoon. we go into the living room to check on the baby, and he again spits water all over the dining room floor, so another spanking. audrey tries to climb up on a water cooler to get near the stove (which isn't hot, but should never be climbed up onto). i am so upset, i come in here to write about it to have some sort of release, and after typing out a few sentences, zach turns off the computer... which he get spanked for every time he touches it. since 5:30 zach and audrey have been playing, but
a screaming jumping from the ottoman to the couch kind of playing, and i haven't heard silence for so long my ears are ringing. well, the baby is screaming now, so i've got to run. hope your day was smoother than mine.

here's zach's fish face... he is going to celebrate birthday number 2 next week. the other day he made this face at me while i was trying to discipline, then gave me a big smile. i couldn't help but laugh!

i can't believe we finally got our internet service, and i finally figured out how to put some pics up on the blog!! i hope that you enjoy a few pictures of the kiddos!!

Zach loves to vacuum! everytime i get it out he runs and gets his and follows me around the house. it is so cute- i can't wait till he's old enough to do the real thing (except by then, he may not be so excited about it anymore).

well, its been about 2 weeks since i've had access to the internet. i'm hoping to get it hooked up to our house sometime next week. we've had trouble getting service because apparently the people that lived there before us didn't like to pay their bills, so they marked our address as unserviceable. and it has been so hard to unpack with a newborn and zach! as my mother so eloquently put it, he is a "walking whirlwind that destroys everything he comes into contact with". i can't leave him alone, especially with the baby around! the other day we walked in and he had put his blanket over makenzie and was sitting on top of her in the bouncer. he was trying to cuddle with her, but was crushing her instead. he really loves her, and doesn't do anything to purposely try to hurt her, but doesn't understand the word "gentle" yet.

i'm going to learn how to put pictures on soon, too, so please be patient with me!
